Kotiseutumatkailua / Visiting your home town

Tylsänä sunnuntaipäivänä helmikuussa oli aika lähteä tutustumaan kotiseutuun. Kohteena oli matelijatalo Tropicario, jossa on kattava valikoima käärmeitä ja matelijoita. Nimiä on varmaankin väärin, koska muistiinpanoni eivät olleet kovin tarkkoja

Boring sunday on February, so it's good to know your home town a bit better. We decided to visit the tropical animal house Tropicario. In Tropicario, you can see various types of snakes and lizards. I can guess, I got some names wrong, because my notes are that accurate.

Lastentarha, jossa asusti keltainen ja vihreä mamba.
Kindergarten where lived green and yellow mamba.
Siirryimme aikuisten osastolle. Valitettavasti tälle otukselle en huomannut kirjoittaa nimeä muistiin.
Grown-ups terrarios. Sorry, I didn't remember to write down this snake's name.Sympaattinen ametistipyton(?) tarkkaili vierailijoita kiven päältä.
The sympathetic morelia amethistina watched visitors from the rock.
Tämä velmu kaveri taisi olla verkkopyton.
I think this joker fellow is a regal python. Liskoista meitä ensimmäisenä tervehti purjelisko.
The first lizard we saw was a sailfin lizard.
Useamman käärmeen terraariossa uiskenteli keltainen anakonda.
In the swimming pool, a yellow anaconda.
Tämä heppu on puolestaan vihreä anakonda.
And this fellow here is a green anaconda.

This rather relaxed fellow is a monitor lizard.
Liskot sen kuin laiskistuivat. Tämä unikeko kuuluu myrkkyliskolajeihin eli on skorpionilisko.
Lizards were even lazier. This sleepyhead is a beaded lizard, which is a venomous lizard.
Katon rajassa viihtyi papuan pyton.

Great colors? It's a boa constrictor.
Kaktuksesta pitävä käärme on puolestaan trooppinen kauhukalkkarokäärme.
This snake is a one type of tropical rattlesnakes.
Krokotiilivaraani edusti reippaampia matelijoita.
Crocodile monitor was more active than the previous ones.
Mustienmambojen hellyttävää rakkautta.
Black mambas were so in love.
Valkokaulavaraani Mauri pakoili kameraa.
White-throated savanna monitor Mauri was hiding the camera.
Krokotiili? Ei vaan silmälasikaimaani.
Crocodile? No, spectacled caiman.

This African spurred tortoise is a young one about 15 years old.

Siinäpä se sunnuntai hurahti. Vain isoimmat käärmeet inhottivat, muut olivat mielenkiintoista nähtävää.

Well, that's it. Only the biggest snake were scary, but it was interesting to see them.

Työpäivänsä kullakin / Different jobs

Työpaikan kyyläystä. Ihan rouhee nosturi pojilla. Nostelisinko palkkeja vai istuisinko koneella? Hmmm... oon niin väärällä alalla ;) Tuo nosturihan on ihan pähee. Oikeastaan voisin olla se bobcat-kuski, joka kuljetteli omaa pikkupalkkia. Taustalla Pasilan poliisiasema ja ylen tv-torni. Rakentavat uutta parkkihallia. Kuvat ovat sentään otettu 6. kerroksen ikkunasta ja nosturi sen kuin jatkuu yläilmoihin.

Office fun. What a cool crane they have. Which one is more cool sitting in the office or lifting metal things? Hmmm... I've so wrong job ;) Crane is so cool. Well, actually I could be that Bobcat driver who lifted his own minigirder. Behind the crane police house and national tv tower. They are building new parking area. I'm on the 6th floor and crane is reaching the sky.

Sommaren är här, jee jee!

Nya Vindar -ruotsinkirjasta tutun Het Potatiksen tahdissa jorailtiin useasti Sommaren är här -biisiä. Muistan, että meidän ope kantoi nauhaa vielä ysiluokallakin meidän tunneille. Opettajahan ei suostunut soittamaan pelkkää biisiä vaan koko kirjan kappale kuunneltiin ja loppuhuipennuksena tuli Sommaren är här. Myös lukiossa vaadimme opettajaa välillä hakemaan nauhan jostain varastoista. Myös muilla on omat muistonsa biisistä, esimerkiksi jotkut ovat kuunnelleet biisiä salaa ennen tunnin alkua. Löytääkös joku tuota biisiä netistä?

The band "Het Potatis" was playing the school "hit" "Sommaren är här" in my Swedish study book "Nya Vindar". I remember that our teacher was so cool, when she brought the tape with her. We were asking to hear the song at 9th grade and the actual song is i the 7th grade study book. We had to listen the whole chapter where the song was played and the grande finale was the song. So, everyone in my class remembers what happens in that chapter. Furthermore, we demanded our high school teacher to bring the tape, so we can listen that. I'm not the only who has memories, for example, in someone's class they eavesdropped on the song, before teacher came in to the class room. Can someone able to find that song from the net?

Tämän vuoden kesä on täällä, koska kesä alkaa virallisesti ekoista jätskitötteröistä. Kaivarista Helsingin Jäätelötehtaan kojusta sai jo viime viikolla ehtaa tötteröjätskiä. Njam, että oli hyvää. Kuinka niin oli kylmä? Okei, ehkä tuo hanska ei sovi kuviin.

The summer is here, because it begins when you eat your first ice-cream cone. We were lucky persons last week, because there was an ice-cream kiosk in Kaivari. Oh boy, it was so good. What cold? No. Ok, maybe the glove is little too much.

Minttusuklaata ja sitruuna-rahkaa / Mint chocolate and lemon curd

Ilma oli mitä kesäisin, kun suunnistin Sarpan kanssa kahville Caruselliin. Kello oli jo seitsemän maissa, kun jälkiruoat otettiin kehiin. Kaikille tiedoksi, että lähin Otto on Kapteenin- ja Tehtaankadun kulmassa.

Weather was sunny when Sarppa and I drank coffee in Carusell. The clock seven pm. when we ate the ice-creams. FYI, the closest ATM is on the corner of Kapteeninkatu and Tehtaankatu.

Lokit olivat jo valppaina ja koimmekin pari hyökkäystä. Odotamme innolla lokkien nokkeluutta. Nythän Kauppatorille suunnitellaan verkkoja estämään lokkien hyökkäykset.

Seagulls watched us very carefully and they attacked us couple times. I'm looking forward how they clever they're on this summer. Now, the city is planning to have nets on the market place to prevent the seagull attacks.
